We made it to Oklahoma and started it off with a bang. At the last minute, we decided to have a birthday party for Sydney so she could celebrate it with her Papa and her cousins. It was a great time for everyone! We started up around 2:30 and went strong until 7:30. I keep joking that a black cloud follows me around Anchorage. Well, it finally figured out I had came down to Oklahoma and it rained pretty much the entire party. We had a Huge Water Trough set up for the kids to swim in along with smaller pools and water toys for the smaller ones to play in. All of the kids had a great time. Then out came the water ballons. It was getting dangerous then. Lucky for us Aunt Teresa agreed to be the target and all the kids threw the ballons at her insted of the rest of the adults. I only got hit once by one. It has been a scorcher here in Oklahoma, so no one minded the rain or getting a little wet. The good thing about that was that none of the kids or adults got a sunburn while playing in the water.
My brother Randy made a firepit this afternoon between working cows this morning and the party this afternoon. He made it out of a hub of a tire, closed off the bottom and added curved legs. It was really cool that he just came up with it and did it in one afternoon. So we were able to have a fire closer to where everyone was playing and sitting. We had a weiner roast in his firepit. The last time Sydney was in, they had a weiner roast down by the creek and it was a success. So we gave it another whirl.
Grandma Margaret along with a little help from Sydney made a Birthday cake last night that looked like a pond with fish on the sides and ducks on the top surrounded by grass. Sydney had lots of fun helping her out with the placement of the ducks and then sang herself Happy Birthday. Today she had plenty of help from her cousins and friends opening presents aand eating the cake. The cake was finished off in no time flat.
We had 32 people counting Sydney and I at her birthday party. Not bad, considering it was a last minute thing put togather. My cousin Larry and his family came down from Tulsa, my mom's sister Teresa was there, my brother Randy and my friend Amy along with her kids, my cousin Loran's family was there- Angie, Landra, Lana & Sam, my cousin Joe's kids-Hallee, Wyatt & Savanah where there, but they were busy working and we not able to make it, My Aunt Beth and Uncle Ray, my High School friend Kim Foster and her daughter Kallie, my friend Lynn Davidson along with her son and fiancee, some of my Mom and Dad's friends Gene and Melba Jordan along with their granddaughter Kacee, and Lawana. Mom went to High School with Melba and Lawana and they still get togather and do things. I think that is everyone who showed up. I probably missed someone. This is what I miss about being back home. Is all the family and friends that I am surrounded by.
